Funding
The CVR salary component is almost entirely dependent on external funding, the bulk of which is from competitive, peer reviewed research grants and the NHMRC Fellowships and Career Development Awards Scheme. Since 1994, the core has been in the form of a NHMRC Program Grant, which has been renewed in 1998, 2002 and 2006. In 2003, a second NHMRC Program Grant, awarded in 2002, boosted the CVR’s peer-reviewed income. Commercial funding has been through partnership with several organisations with details available in the Commercialisation page. In addition, CVR has received Translational Program Grant funding from Cancer Institute NSW, project grant funding from NHMRC, ARC, National Heart Foundation, Pfizer CVL Awards, Human Frontiers (US), Wellcome Trust (UK), NHMRC of Singapore, JS McDonnell Foundation (US), NIH and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
